In-House Diagnostics and Bloodwork in Allegan, MI
Blood tests are an essential part of diagnosing what is ailing your pet, just as they are in human medicine. Blood tests can help your veterinarian to diagnose any underlying disease that you would not be able to see from just looking at your pet.
At Allegan Animal Clinic, we understand the importance of your pet's health, which is why we have an in-house lab that lets us perform bloodwork on-site. Call us today with questions or concerns about your pet's health, and we'll be glad to help.
Common Blood Tests Used by Veterinarians
- Complete Blood Count (CBC) to evaluate red blood cells for anemia, white blood cells for inflammation/infection, and platelets for clotting
- Full chemistry panel to evaluate blood sugar, liver, kidney, pancreas, and thyroid function, and electrolytes
- Preanesthetic (smaller chemistry panel run before anesthesia)
- Heartworm and tick-born disease screening for dogs
- FIV ("feline AIDS") / FeLV (feline leukemia) screening for cats
Benefits of In-House Diagnostics and Bloodwork
When your cat or dog is sick, you don't want to wait days to get the results of blood tests and start his or her treatment.
Our in-house diagnostic lab decreases the time and energy necessary to get your cat or dog the blood test he or she needs. We also believe it's easier for your pet to only deal with one technician and one visit than to have him or her visit two separate facilities.
Having a sick cat or dog can be a scary thing. After all, they are part of the family. Allegan Animal Clinic wants to ease some of your anxiety and get your pet on the road to wellness quickly. That's why we've invested in an in-house diagnostic lab.
Call us to learn more about our in-house testing lab or to make an appointment for your pet.
